Meet Dak, a sweet and loving 5-year-old French Bulldog who has been through an unimaginable ordeal. For approximately seven weeks, Dak was under the care of someone who did not provide him with the proper attention, hygiene, and nutrition needed to thrive and live a healthy life. As a result, his health declined drastically. When he was finally reunited with his owner, it was clear he needed urgent medical attention.
Dak was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and had lost over 12 pounds—an extreme amount for his small frame. He was covered in waste, suffering from anemia, emaciation, malnutrition, ataxic movement, a urinary tract infection, kidney stones, bladder stones, enlarged abdominal lymph nodes, colonic thickening, and, most concerning, painful ulcers in both of his eyes that now threaten his vision. With consultation from an ophthalmologist, it was found Dak’s left eye ruptured and is sealed due to his iris coming forward along with a stromal ulcer in his right eye. These findings place him in an unstable situation as surgery is recommended for graft placement; however, he is currently too weak to undergo general anesthesia for the procedure.
Upon being reunited, Dak was immediately rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, where he received lifesaving care. While he is now stable and surrounded by love, he still has a long road ahead. He requires surgery in both eyes to preserve his vision, along with ongoing medical treatment to fully recover.
The cost of Dak’s emergency care, hospitalization, and upcoming surgeries has placed a heavy financial burden on his owner, who is doing everything possible to ensure he gets the help he needs. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward Dak’s medical expenses and give him the second chance he deserves.
If you are unable to donate, sharing Dak’s story would mean the world. Thank you for your kindness, support, and for believing in Dak’s journey to healing.
