Hello my name is Rebecca and I am asking for your help to support my best friend/my sister and her family . She had an accident back in January this year where she was rushed to the hospital and later life flighted to the nearby Neurotrauma Center for severe brain swelling. After many scans and MRI’s it was discovered that she had a brain tumor which was creating intense daily migraines and brain swelling pressure on her brain stem. They completed a brain biopsy while she was in the trauma center and released her later on that week…onto a path no one saw coming. Her pathology later returned after what was an agonizing time period for all of us waiting to hear. The news came as a devastating shock to our hearts. She was diagnosed with Glioma/Astrocytoma grade 3.

Since that heart puncturing moment, she is struggling with seizures and is a fall risk unable to be by herself. Her insurance will not pay for, nor cover at home healthcare that she desperately needs. She hasn’t worked since the birth of her daughter whom she lovingly put her career on pause to raise and in more recent years homeschooled. Because of that choice to be a stay at home mom raising her daughter , she was recently denied disability, even with her dire prognosis. Her husband has to take off work to care for her when her out of town family is not there filling in the gaps.

This week is a particularly challenging one, as she started targeted brain radiation. She will have 7 weeks of EBRT and then hopefully the Targeted Chemo pill will begin to work and her body will not reject it. Until then and for the unknown future she will need assistance. Her brain tumor was diagnosed as diffused, inoperable and incurable. We do not know how much time she has left with us. We cherish the moments with her. I am grateful for the time that I have been given when I can see her smile and hear her laugh.

She has a 9yr old little girl that needs her and a loving husband who wants to be by her side as much as possible. Recently when we went for a walk around her neighborhood and as her hubby pushed her in the wheelchair I asked her what her favorite place was that she had ever visited, she quickly replied, “home”. Please help us so she can stay in her home with her loved ones, in her familiar comfortable surroundings.

Please give my best friend more time at home. I am grateful for your time and your human kindness that you displayed while reading a piece my heart dedicated to my sister whom I love dearly.
