Hi everyone,
This is Cosmo. He just turned 9 years old and has been my adventure partner and hiking buddy, over the years.
In April 2025, Cosmo was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a spinal condition that affects mobility and can worsen over time.
Recently, he has been experiencing another flare-up and the vet recommended surgery. He is still walking and using the restroom on his own, but he moves much more slowly and occasionally yelps in pain when shifting positions. Seeing him uncomfortable has been incredibly hard.
Our veterinarian has discussed surgery as a potential option if his condition continues to progress. At this stage, we are beginning strict rest and medical management to try to reduce inflammation and pain. However, IVDD can be unpredictable, and if conservative treatment fails, surgery may be necessary to prevent further deterioration.
We are preparing for mounting medical expenses, including imaging, medications, specialist consultations, and surgery, which could total around $10k - $12k. I am looking for assistance with about half of the total cost to get him surgery sooner.
Cosmo still has so much life in him. His spirit hasn’t changed. He still wants to be by my side every day.
If you can help whether through a donation or by sharing this page, it would mean the world to me and Cosmo.
Thank you for supporting Cosmo and giving him the best chance to stay comfortable and mobile.
Thank you ,
Daniel
