My name is Dana. I am writing this to raise funds for our dog, Chelsea, who needs surgery to remove a cancerous mass that is challenging her young life. On January 15th, I took Chelsea to our veterinarian for a mass that we noticed on her side. At that appointment, the vet recommended a cytology to determine what the mass was. Our vet explained that there's 2 possibilities, one being benign and the other being cancer.
2 days later, I received the call from our vet & he confirmed our worse fear, the mass was cancerous. It was identified as a mast cell tumor. The vet explained that cancerous masses like this are time sensitive. The quicker Chelsea could have the surgery to remove the mass, the better her prognosis. Our vet said that once the mass is removed, it would be sent out to determine if he was able to get good margins to remove all of the cancer & what grade of mast cell we are dealing with.
Chelsea is only 5 years old. She has been the queen of our house since we were given the opportunity to adopt her in 2020. She is sassy, sweet, protective and incredibly loyal member of our family. Every day she greets you with a smile and a wagging tail. She loves everyone she meets & will “talk” your ear off when she’s excited. She has brought our family so much happiness, snuggles and unconditional love. She deserves a chance to live her life to the fullest.
Chelsea’s love & loyalty is why we are creating this fundraiser. We want to give back to her what she has brought to all of us. The cost of the surgery in itself, is more than we are able to afford. That is not including medications, follow-ups and the possibility of needing further medical care, if the mass cannot be fully excised. My husband works long days and many overtime hours to support our family. Due to my disability, I am unable to work. We have battled with the thought of making this fund and ultimately, swallowed our pride to ask for help. It’s has not been an easy decision. I can’t put into words what any contribution, big or small, would mean to our family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this & for helping us get the chance to enjoy many more years with our Chelsea girl.
