Charlotte isn’t just a dog. She’s my best friend, my family, my day one. For 13 years, she’s been my comfort through every high and low, every move, every heartbreak, every night I just needed someone who loved me unconditionally. She’s been there through it all, and I can’t imagine my life without her little paws following me around.
This past week has been one of the hardest of my life. I noticed her stomach starting to swell. She also began getting sick and throwing up blood. I rushed her to the vet right away. Since then, we’ve done X-rays, blood work, IV fluids, and she’s even been kept overnight for monitoring. The tests showed something concerning: a mass in her abdomen that could be either cancerous or benign. We’re still waiting for more answers, but right now, the next step is surgery to remove the mass, address a blockage in her stomach, and get her the medications and care she’ll need afterward.
The costs have already reached $5,000 and will continue to rise with surgery, aftercare, and follow-ups. As much as I wish love alone could heal her, I can’t afford all of it on my own. But I’m doing everything I can to give her the chance she deserves to be healthy, comfortable, and home where she belongs.
Charlotte has been with me through every chapter of my life. She’s seen me grow up, loved me without question, and filled every room with warmth just by being in it. Even now, she still looks at me with that same spark in her eyes, still wags her tail when I walk in. She’s a fighter and I want to fight for her too.
Any amount helps, whether it’s a donation, a share, or just a kind word. Every bit of support means the world right now. Charlotte deserves more time surrounded by the love she’s given everyone her whole life.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for helping us fight for her.
With all my heart,
Natalie & Charlotte
UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who donated and shared our fundraiser. Because of your help, we were able to cover Charlotte’s medical bills. The vet was able to clear the blockage in her stomach and treat the bleeding. Her total vet bill came out to $1,350, which is much less than the original $5,000 we were initially expecting when we feared and told she’d need immediate surgery.
We’re still waiting to hear back from the vet about whether surgery will be needed for the mass they found, but for now she’s stable and resting so we stopped the donations. Thank you again to everyone who showed kindness and helped us get her the care she needed.
