Help Caitlin Get an Accessible Vehicle
Hello, my name is Jess, and I’m fundraising to help my close friend Caitlin obtain a safe, fully accessible vehicle, something she urgently needs to regain independence, attend medical care, and simply leave her home.
Caitlin lives with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (tetraplegic), an immune deficiency, autism, and several other serious medical conditions. She was also recently diagnosed with multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms, which has significantly worsened her health. As she gets older, her symptoms continue to progress despite extensive treatment, therapy, and effort.
Caitlin is now primarily dependent on a power wheelchair. She is no longer physically able to disassemble or load a manual wheelchair into a standard vehicle. Without an accessible van, she is effectively homebound, often bedbound, and reliant on oxygen both inside and outside the home. She requires 24/7 caregiving and frequent medical appointments.
Over the last two years, Caitlin has been hospitalized almost monthly. She has endured numerous surgeries, seizures, infections, and complications that can become life-threatening quickly. Reliable transportation is no longer a convenience, it’s a medical necessity.
Caitlin has some funds set aside and is applying for a grant to help cover part of the cost, but she still needs to raise $20,000–$25,000 to afford a properly equipped accessible vehicle. This amount will help cover the vehicle and necessary accessibility modifications.
More than anything, Caitlin wants a chance at a life beyond four walls, to attend appointments safely, to leave the house without fear or exhaustion, and to work toward returning to employment and independence in whatever ways her health allows.
This vehicle would change everything.
If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser, you’d be giving Caitlin something priceless: mobility, dignity, and the chance to live—not just survive.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and caring.
— Jess
