Update 07/10/2025: Butters was admitted to the Emergency Room this morning because he wasn't able to urinate on his own. He went into kidney failure and passed away. Thank you to everyone who help provide comfort and support to his family during this difficult time.

Update 07/08/2025: Butters surgery to remove the scrotal mass will be moving forward for 07/11/2025. It is too risky to operate on his liver. The liver mass aspiration came back negative.

Update 07/05/2025: Butters is starting to move around a bit more! His surgery to remove the scrotal cancer and liver mass is scheduled for 07/11/2025. I will post more updates as they become available. Please continue to comment, share and donate to help his family prepare for his surgery.

Update 07/03/2025: Butters still has a long road to recovery. He is eating hay, but has hind legs weakness. His is not stable on his feet enough to make it to the potty and had developed urine scald. His family is making adjustments to provide extra supplies and care for his disabilities. The liver mass aspiration came back INCONCLUSIVE and the abdominal wall mass came back MALIGNANT from the scrotum area. His family is getting a second consult on removing the abdominal mass so he is more comfortable and can move around. Although the medical bills for his care have been extremely high, my goal is to raise around $800 in donations to help his family with the unexpected costs. Any donations beyond $800 will be passed on to Hoppy Clover Rabbit Rescue (up to $800), a newly founded rabbit rescue helping rabbits in need.

Update 07/01/2025: Butters started eating and having normal poops. He was approved to be discharged home on 06/30/2025. During the discharging process he was given 5X the dose of pain medications he should of by the hospital and has been experiencing side effects from the overdose. The hospital has not provided any insight on how to help him. He continues to eat but is very unsteady on his feet.

Update: Butters is slowly coming out of GI stasis and it eating and pooping. He is still not out of the woods yet and is still in the hospital. We are waiting for a second exotic consultation for his care! Please continue to donate, comments and share!

Update: Butters mass was determined to be cancerous and it has rapidly spread. He was found to have to underlying liver issues, which caused his body to not be able to process the penicillin and that caused his rapid symptoms. He is still in the hospital and in good spirits. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and please donate, like, comment and share this GoFundMe.

Urgent Help Needed for Butters—My Friend’s Beloved Rabbit

Hi friends,

I’m reaching out because my good friend Nikki’s 8-year-old standard Rex, Butters, is in crisis. He recently developed a large lump in his groin and on 06/25 he had a biopsy completed and started penicillin shots while he waited for his surgery to remove the mass (scheduled for 07/11/2025). Butters went into severe GI stasis and fluid retention. He has had 2 ER visits in the past 24 hours, developed fast respirations, and has been hospitalized.

Butters now needs emergency treatment—IV fluids, pain meds, syringe feedings, diagnostics, and likely surgery. The estimated cost is $4,000+.

Nikki has always been there for me—stepping up to support my business, lending a hand when I was in need without hesitation, being one of my biggest supporters. Now, I want to give back by helping Butters.
