Hi everyone and thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We have a sweet 9 year old pit bull named Bubba who was rescued from the Animal Rescue League on October 31st, 2021. Ever since he’s come into our life he has given us so much love, fun and adventure. Everyone that comes into contact with him has absolutely fallen head over heels in love with him and has impacted them in some shape or form. In December of 2025 after getting up in the morning he let out a large yelp which if you know Bubba is super unusual as he is afraid of his own voice and was completely frozen. Every time he tried to walk it was a complete struggle which prompted us to go to the vet and get X-rays. They determined there was a lot of bruising in the armpit area so they gave him medication and honestly was starting to get back to his normal self. A week later things took a major turn and Bubba was completely restless, his front right leg became lame which caused knuckling and could not lay comfortably at all. Took him back to the vet and another round of X-rays was done. They found a chip on his shoulder and we got referred to an orthopedic surgeon at the ISU animal hospital. Friday night 1/02 we made our way up there and they were all concerned about potential radial nerve damage. A CT scan with contrast was scheduled for 1/05 and the results were not what we were hoping for. They found a mass in his armpit which is most likely cancer. We tried our hardest to raise enough funds for amputation to give him much needed relief however was unsuccessful. Last night 1/08 the pain completely overtook our sweet boy and we had to make the most heartbreaking decision to put him down so he didn’t continue to suffer. Bubba truly was the most amazing dog I’ve ever come across and deserved to live a long happy healthy life. We are completely devastated and don’t even know how to process him not being with us. He was our shadow and was always waiting with a toy in his mouth and butt just a wiggling when greeting us at the door. We will never forget our sweet boy and will forever be grateful for all the time we had together ❤️
