Hello! This is Bo Duke, our 4-year-old silver lab. This year for Christmas, Bo is asking for CCL surgery.

On 11-18-2025, Bo was running through our fields to help us cut wood. As we admired his ears flopping and how fast his legs were moving, all of a sudden it all ended quickly, as Bo started crying and no longer bearing weight on his back left leg. We ran up to him and checked his paws for cuts and felt around his leg and hip and didn’t find anything he seemed to be mad at us for touching. After a week of red laser, stretching, massage, cold packs, and liniment, he was still no longer bearing weight on his leg. From there, we made the decision to call the vet. After our appointment with the vet and an orthopedic surgeon, they determined it was a cranial cruciate ligament rupture (essentially an ACL rupture in people). He informed us that surgery was the only route for a comfortable and active lifestyle again. 100% of the donations will go to surgery and post op costs. Surgery is scheduled for January 15th 2026.

Without this surgery, Bo would no longer be able to be an active dog. Essentially, the bones would start to fuse, severe arthritis would set in, he would live on chronic pain meds, and would begin his life as a leash dog.

After lots of thought and consideration about our lifestyle, financial future, and Bo’s well-being, here we are. After several property projects we completed last year and the projects we need to continue and finish, financially this surgery would put us over the top. I was also informed in mid-October that I will be losing my job in March due to AI. We are asking for help to help us remain a family with our fur kids. To be able to have Bo remain an outdoor active lifestyle with the rest of us. Bo has always been a very active outdoor enthusiast. His life before the accident was to go with us everywhere: work, camping, beach, hunting, traveling, hiking, horseback rides, and his simple home pleasures of playing with his dog friends, playing fetch, swimming in the ponds, keeping the deer out of the yard, and chasing the barn cats.
