First of all, Bird Dog is a 100% certified sweetheart!

She had her exam today, and we learned that she is still battling an infection and currently has no feeling down her leg into her toes. While we are hopeful the infection will heal and she will regain sensation, there is a significant chance that her leg may ultimately need to be amputated. At this time, she is likely not in pain due to the loss of feeling.

Bird Dog’s story is heartbreaking but full of love. Her owner rescued her four years ago when she literally jumped into his van looking for help. She has always had a limp, and her x-ray shows the reason why — she was previously shot, and the bullet is still lodged inside her. Her dad loves her more than anything and has done everything in his power to care for her, but his resources are limited.

Hunter’s Heart Foundation is stepping in to help cover her medical care, and we need the community’s support. Donations will go toward treating her leg infection, ear infection, and—if she does not regain feeling—her potential leg amputation.
