Dexter, known as Bebe, came to us as a stray lost in my building. Suspected he must've interacted with humans as he was very friendly, I took him in to help foster him to health. He had ear mites, cuts and scrapes, and was malnourished. I've been fostering him for 6 months trying to find a new home for him when the unexpected happened. His heart was failing him and pumping fluid into his lungs. He had been so hyperactive that when he wasn't coming for food and was hiding, something was wrong. I took him to the ER on Friday to help with his erratic breathing, and though I was able to take him home, he wasn't improving. Bebe hadn't been eating and was still lethargic. He is now being held 24hrs while they try to remove some of the fluid in his lungs. The ER visit came to a total of 4.5k, but I would never ask for that much.
All I ask is for some help while we figure out the best plan for Bebe. He may not live a long life, but he deserves a chance at being helped. He's not even 2 years old yet, and it breaks my heart to see him so weak :(
With your help, I would be able to take him to a cardiologist to see how severe his condition is and if long-term medication is obtainable.
Thank you for all of your help and attention to this matter.
