"I'm gonna walk" free of pain!

Here’s a way to give back to someone who has given so much.

Bobbie Colby is in need of knee replacement surgery this upcoming October 2019 after enduring decades of knee pain that started when she was 18 years old. After having a major car accident in 1970 that resulted in 7 surgeries, eventually including the removal of both knee caps, she has struggled to walk without pain for most of her life. She was told she’d be in a wheelchair by age 40, which only made Bobbie more determined to push through the pain. The pain eventually ended her kindergarten teaching career when she was no longer able to get down on the floor with the kids.

Bobbie has endured other hardships as well. After her experience of losing her husband to cancer in 2006, Bobbie went to grad school to become a therapist and since 2008 has worked primarily with families and children who deal with grief and loss, chronic illness, and other loss related issues. She is a valued colleague and friend to me and the other colleagues who share this profession. She is an independently contracted provider which means she does not get paid when she can’t work. This also means she has no sick or paid time off, so won’t be receiving a paycheck for several months while she recovers. Over the past few years as her pain has increased, she has had to miss more and more work, which negatively impacted her income. Her insurance will cover the surgery but we want to help cover her living expenses, with your help.

Bobbie was always told she wasn’t a candidate for knee replacement surgery, but because of today’s medical advancements, she is eligible, but needs living expenses during her recovery period. With your financial support you will be helping Bobbie in her healing, and allowing her once again to get back to what she loves--helping families and kids.

Let’s help Bobbie continue to walk through her life, but without pain.
