Give back to Angus Richardson as he heals
Spende geschützt
Our brother Angus (Gus) had a medical crisis last Saturday while at the Celtiç Fling festival in Pennsylvania about to perform. He was taken to hospital by ambulance barely breathing and with virtually no pulse. He then went into cardiac arrest and suffered a seizure while in ICU. It turns out he was in septic shock with a staph infection in his blood, the source of which remains a mystery to the doctors. They had grave concerns for him and considered it highly likely that he would not last the night.
Angus was heavily sedated and intubated and fought for his life through the night. Against ridiculous odds, he pulled through.
Another procedure the next day found the infection has latched onto one of his heart valves, which will be treated by extended antibiotic infusions for several weeks. Two steps forward, one step back.
The doctors have said the fact he is so fit and strong has stood him in good stead, and they now expect him to make a full recovery. His body and mind are battered but he's getting up off the mat. At the moment it's a day-to-day assessment, but it's safe to say Angus's pulling through has been nothing short of miraculous.
So much gratitude to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Wellspan Samaritan, the quick-thinking festival staff and EMT who took one look at Angus and said, "Get an ambulance now."
Angus would want to say to you all, "Look after each other." So let's look after him now.
As a touring independent musician, Angus will be unable to perform for several months as he continues his treatment and recovers. He thus will be without an income, not to mention his huge medical expenses.
Our beautiful Gus has been a light for so many over the last few decades through his music and gentle, nurturing spirit. Now is our time to help him get through this ordeal as he takes time to heal his body and soul and get back on his feet.
