Give Baby Dussard A Chance At Life

Hi, my name is Melicha Smith and I am raising funds for my friends Tamieka and Leon Dussard.

In 2019 she she was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis.

By 2020, she did a laparoscopic surgery that confirmed endometriosis and ultimately removed a majority of the cysts that developed on her ovaries. After starting the diagnostic cycle with her fertility clinic, she then learnt that though the tubes were fine, she found out that she had polyps on the lining of her uterus and as a result, another surgery was recommended.

In July 2021 what should have been an easy day surgery with two days recovery, led to a major infection and her body went into septic shock. After 3 months of treatment and flushing the infection from her blood stream, she learnt that it had already damaged and blocked her fallopian tubes (hydrosalpinx).

From there a Bilateral salpingectomy (removal of both tubes) was advised, to be followed with IVF ( in vitro fertilization) since natural pregnancy would no longer be an option. Based on the quotation she received from her medical team, this process (including medications) would cost her and her husband $32,800 CAD.

Their insurance covers a maximum lifetime of $5000 towards fertility medications.

They have managed to save $10,000 CAD thus far but they are seeking your help in raising funds to help them with realizing their dream of becoming parents.
