After a long and hopeful fertility and IVF journey, Caitlin and Pat received the exciting news that they were pregnant in February of this year! And we've all collectively shared in the anticipation and joy about them expanding their family ever since. However, they learned that their journey to becoming parents was going to be a difficult one when they found out that their baby has a rare condition called CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia). They recently found out that their baby has a severe CDH case which will require significant extra care and attention, including surgery and extensive NICU time. Despite this challenge, Caitlin and Pat are facing it with unwavering strength and determination.
To give their baby the best chance at survival, they will be relocating from their home in Sacramento, CA to St. Petersburg, Florida in September to receive specialized care from one of the top medical teams available for babies with CDH, at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. This means navigating through new complexities including: cross-country flights, an unexpected move, unplanned medical expenses, stepping away from Caitlin's practice and maintaining their home from afar.
During all of this, although she will be unable to work once they move, Caitlin will be keeping her beloved practice - Kaleidoscope Chiropractic - open, supported by her amazing team, so they may continue to care for other expecting parents, babies and families in their local community. Due to the need to relocate to Florida quickly, she will have to leave her practice earlier than anticipated. Anyone who has been cared for by her or her team knows how much her practice community means to her and how tough it will be for her to be away for an extended period.
Caitlin and Pat are two of the kindest and most loving people we know. Now, it's our turn to show them just a fraction of the support and love they show to others every day. Any contribution, big or small, will go a long way in easing the financial burden they face.
Your kindness and compassion means the world to them as these next few months will be particularly challenging. Our support will help them cover both expenses at home and in Florida so they can remain focused on caring for their new baby and each other.
