My name is Val, I'm 19. This is my 10-year-old dog, Axel.
A few months ago, I took him to the vet for his regular checkup and vaccinations. Everything seemed fine until the vet told me he had a heart murmur. Vets rate the severity of heart murmurs they can hear on a scale between 1-6, 1 being minor and 6 being life-threatening. The vet we saw that day rated him at a 3. They then recommended I get a heart scan and an x-ray for him as soon as possible. Please don't judge because I've been struggling financially for the past little while and if I could have at any point in time, I would have.
Fast forward to this week, late January. Recently, Axel's been experiencing seizures during his sleep. When it first happened, I was terrified and I took him to the vet ER immediately. When they checked his vitals and everything, they said he seemed fine and that the only abnormality was his heart murmur. This time, the vet rated it a 4 out of 6 and recommended the same thing - that I get a heart scan and an x-ray.
I went home hoping that I would have time to save up some money before something like this happened again.
And yet, it did, the very next night, in the same way. Loud yelping, convulsing violently, twitching, panting, and when he wakes up, he can barely stand without wobbling and collapsing in exhaustion.
Normally, I wouldn't ask for money from others. But the cost of getting him this heart scan and x-ray is about $1,000 that I don't have and I am at a point where my dog's life feels like it's teetering on the edge and I don't know what else to do or how much time he has before something truly horrible happens. Even if it's only $1 or a share, anything will help my pup get the chance to recover and hopefully live a little longer.
Thank you for reading this if you took the time to. Anything helps!
