Give Autumn the Gift of Healing, Overcoming IVDD
Donation protected
Our beloved Autumn (only 5yrs) has been recently diagnosed with Cervical (Neck) Disk Disease. An intervertebral disk is pressing on the spinal cord, causing severe pressure and pain in her neck. When disk herniation occurs the interior protrudes (bulges) into the vertebral canal, where the spinal cord resides. when the spinal cord is compressed by disk material, the dog can experience pain and in some cases if let to progress, severe damage to the spine will lead to paralysis.
The past few weeks, instead of her normal happy puppy self, she's been in immense pain, with tense muscles and shivers, nose pointing towards the ground, and her back arching in a 'C' when the pain is bad enough.
We've been managing with medications for the time being and limiting movement next to none, but we know she'd much rather be going on her walks and other outdoor trips that she has always loved.
We don't want her in further pain, and for this disease to progress. The next step is to do surgery where they would fuse two vertebrae together and/or remove the extruded disk material to take the pressure off of the spinal cord, from there letting the spinal cord heal in time.
Please find it in your hearts to help this pup be able again. It has been so hard seeing her in so much pain and we want to do only the best for her!
