Hi I'm Aura's Aunt. Unfortunately I am creating this fundraiser because my dog niece is unexpectedly in a dire situation.

In the middle of the night Saturday, Aura suddenly began howling in pain. She couldn’t walk, couldn’t move her foot, and was clearly suffering. At first, we feared she had broken her foot — but after rushing her to urgent care, the vet quickly realized something far more serious was happening.

She was immediately referred to an emergency hospital 45 minutes away, where she’s now been for over 24 hours. The cause of her pain remains a mystery.

The emergency team is working to rule out anaplasmosis, infection, a mass pushing on a nerve or possibly bone cancer. The uncertainty has been agonizing — for both Aura and her family — and some of the potential diagnoses are devastating.

Depending on what they find, Aura will likely need an MRI and may need to have her leg amputated. If it’s cancer, she’ll require months of chemotherapy and radiation.

So far, her medical bills are already over $4,000, and that’s just from the initial testing and hospitalization. Any further diagnostics, treatment, or surgery will multiply those costs quickly.

My sister, who adores her dogs more than anything, is heartbroken. She recently brought home Evermore, a second dog from the same breeder so Aura could have a companion — they’ve become inseparable. She would never ask for help like this, but she’s overwhelmed and simply can’t manage the cost of these escalating vet bills alone.
