Give Auggie a Fighting Chance Against Cancer
Donation protected
In 2021, I adopted my very first pet, August, and little did I know how much she would change my life. Auggie is a breathtaking beauty, who is a very charming, sweet, and affectionate flame point Siamese. Initially homeless, she's estimated to be 7 years old; as she ages, we have been met with some hardships. A few weeks ago, I noticed a bump she was developing on her nose, her left side, which is also where her FHV symptoms flare up. On 4/21, I took her to see her vet, and they feared it could be a nasal lymphoma and referred me out to OSU Veterinary Medical Center. We were able to be seen on 4/24, and Auggie was there for 7+ hours for diagnostics. They did take samples of her nasal mass and saw populations of both lymphoma and another type of tumor called carcinoma. Following more tests, they saw no signs of the spread of cancer anywhere outside of the nasal passage! This luckily means that Auggie will not have to go through chemotherapy and would be a great candidate for radiation. On 4/29, we are proceeding with a CT scan of her skull to determine the extent of the nasal tumor and taking a biopsy of the mass to identify the tumor. This will help with insight on what we should be scanning and looking for in the future post-treatment. Treatment will be discussed further on Tuesday, but as of now, a plan of 10 sessions for 2 weeks, M-F, has been discussed. It was a lot to take in, but I was told that all things considered, we were in the best place we could be for a cat with a nasal mass. I believe and hope my daughter has plenty of years of life ahead of her, and I want to give her the best fighting chance. Without her, I truly don't know where I'd be.
OSU vet has been very forthcoming and transparent with pricing and estimated costs. Our intake and testing costs are attached & were over $1,500. The CT scan and biopsy will probably be around $2,000, and the radiation therapy will range from $6,500-$7,000. This is an unprecedented amount of debt for me, and I am reaching out for your help for the sake of my little girl. I know times are tight, but sharing is caring. If you are not in a space to contribute, just getting the word out and sharing her campaign would mean tons. I will be sure to post updates. Until then!
