Help Me Help My Mom: She Deserves Better
Hi, my name is Angel, and I’m 17 years old. I’m asking for help for my mom—the strongest woman I know. She’s not just my mother; she’s my best friend, my role model, and the heart of our family. She takes care of me and my little brother, always putting us first, even when she’s struggling. Now, she needs help, and I can’t do it alone.
My mom has Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG)—a rare and aggressive brain tumor that affects the brainstem. It causes memory loss, difficulty walking, trouble speaking, severe headaches, and unbearable pain. Even though she’s fighting every day just to function, she still tries to be the mom and grandmother we love—strong, caring, and selfless. But right now, she needs support.
As if battling cancer wasn’t enough, last week my mom was in a terrible car accident. The weather was bad, her truck was hit from the front and back, and the airbags didn’t even deploy. Frame is bent and She was injured, and instead of being cared for, the person she thought would stand by her side left her completely. He took the keys to the car and walked away, leaving her with no way to get to her doctors or therapy appointments.
And now, he’s making things even worse.
He has a car but won’t help her get to her appointments. He lives in the same apartment complex but hasn’t checked on her. Now, he’s shutting off our phones and internet too—knowing that we need them for medical appointments, work, and even school. He doesn’t care if we lose our home, if we can’t reach help, or if my mom suffers because of it.
I watched my mom bundle up in 20-degree weather to catch a bus just to get the medical care she needs. She is in pain every day. She has physical therapy four times a week, virtual therapy once a week, and constant appointments with her brain specialist. Without transportation, without internet, and without a stable home, she can’t even fight for her health the way she needs to.
My mom is a fighter. She’s an amazing chef and makes incredible candles, lotions, and massage oils, but right now, she’s too sick and hurt to run her business. I know how to make the things she creates, but I don’t know how to sell them. I just want to keep a roof over our heads and make sure she gets the care she needs so she can heal.
I’m doing everything I can, but I need help. Please, if you can donate anything, it would mean the world to us. Every dollar will go toward rent, bills, transportation, and medical expenses to give my mom a fighting chance to get better. And if you can’t donate, please share this with others who might be able to help.
She has always taken care of everyone else. Now, it’s time for someone to take care of her.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for anything you can do to help.
