Hi, my name is Jacqui & I’m raising funds for an 11 yr old Kenyan boy who has a Cancerous tumour on his brain. His photo is above.
His Grandmother, Purity, was our wonderfully kind & efficient Housekeeper when we lived in Nairobi. His mother is a Nurse. We know the family well.
Piason Muiruri Kagendo was diagnosed on June 9th, 2023. His family managed to pay for Radiotherapy in November & December, 2023. Using the rest of their savings they paid for Chemotherapy in March through to May, 2024.
The National Hospital Insurance Fund was disbanded by the Kenyan Government & replaced by The Social Health Insurance Fund & it’s disastrous. Nothing works. People are desperate as every medical necessity has to be paid for by them.
Piason is in great pain & his eyes are very swollen. On hearing of his plight, I recently sent funds for him to have a brain scan & a month’s supply of painkillers. This he has just had. It was discovered that his blood had thickened & he’s now on blood thinners & painkillers. At last, he has some relief.
Piason desperately needs surgery. This will cost the equivalent of £4,500. Purity has had to forego her business of selling rice to look after her grandson.
The operation would take place at Keroguya Hospital, Kerugoya Town. The family approached the Kenya Child Cancer Trust but they, like other charities, are not able to assist as they are inundated with requests.
