Amanda is a mom to a beautiful little boy, a wife, a small business owner and just another human being who’s trying her best. She is strong and independent and not surprise, surprise... does not like to ask for help despite what she's up against.
In Amanda's own words, "On December 22nd I will be having a major surgery that includes 3 procedures at once. I will be having a hysterectomy because of adenomyosis that causes extreme pain, endometriosis excision, and excision of a spot on my left breast. I have been living in chronic pain for years now and it has increased immensely over the past three years. This surgery gives me hope for a better quality and of life on the other side of it all. I’m in tears writing this as it is has been a struggle for me to ask for help throughout my life. So here I am being incredibly vulnerable and asking for your help."
Taking time off to have and recover from this necessary surgery puts significant financial strain on Amanda and her family. She was told she could probably "get away with" two weeks as the bare minimum amount of time before she can see clients again due to financial circumstances.
For a hysterectomy alone, six weeks is what doctors advise for the first phase of recovery. It is a long road and most people who've experienced one would agree that it really takes a full year to find your new normal. Recovery from abdominal surgery is a different animal. The magnitude of energy it borrows from your other systems is part of why it is such a beast to recover from.
If you've experienced a hysterectomy - imagine trying to go to work after just two weeks. I wish I was a better writer so that I could put into words the pain and complexity of this recovery journey. Suffice it to say that if you know, you know, and you're probably the most likely to donate.
With a little help, we can bridge the gap between the two weeks that Amanda and her family can afford and the six weeks needed for the first phase of recovery and help with the additional medical expenses and child care.
From Amanda, "My family and I would be so grateful for any help at all. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We appreciate you."
Your contribution of any size has a direct impact on the quality of her recovery. Thank you for your kindness and please share with anyone who can appreciate Amanda's story, and who you think might also like to help.
