Give All Kids in Durham a Warm Coat
Donation protected
Hi my name is Josh Klein, I am a senior at Durham Academy, in Durham, NC. My brothers David and Benny and I are working on #BundleUpDurham, a community effort that aims to give children in the Durham Public Schools System a warm coat for the winter. Our neighbor, Shalini Ramasunder started the effort and we help out through our club version at Durham Academy.
Donations will go to the organization as a whole for buying coats.
The need is great. Durham has 800-900 documented displaced/homeless school age children. 71% of all elementary school students enrolled in Durham Public Schools qualify for free or reduced price lunches. For the 2016-17 school year, this number was 22, 456 students. Coats cost a lot and every donation will count towards reaching our goal of ensuring that all school age children have a warm coat by the year 2020. Donations of $30 (one coat) are suggested. The money will go directly to purchasing coats, which will then be donated to the Durham Public Schools system. With your help, children in our community will not have to wait for the school bus on a freezing cold day in only a t-shirt.
