Give Ali a Fighting Chance
Donation protected
Meet Ali – short for Muhammad Ali – and like his namesake, this young Alaskan Husky is a true fighter. Ali was born deep in the Alaskan wilderness where he was originally going to become a sled dog. He traveled with @blackbearsleddog to the lower 48 with some retiring sled dogs to get checked out by a vet. It was discovered that he has a congenital condition called bilateral luxating patellas, meaning his kneecaps are dislocated and sit far to the outside of his knees. This condition is graded in terms of severity on a scale from I-IV. Ali’s right knee is already at a grade IV, meaning that his kneecap is permanently displaced and cannot be moved into the proper position without surgery. Ali’s left knee is graded at a III/IV, meaning the kneecap sits outside of the proper position but can be manually forced into place, though it will not stay in place without surgical intervention. This condition has caused his thigh muscles to twist and pull, which puts added pressure on his already bowed femurs (thigh bones). Without surgery, Ali will have increasing pain and disability as he grows.
With surgery, Ali can live an active, normal life.
The cost of the life-changing surgery? $9,000 per knee.
Because the condition affects both legs, he’ll need:
• A distal femoral osteotomy (surgical bone correction),
• Patellar groove reconstruction,
• And tendon realignment on both legs.
Every donation—no matter the size—brings Ali one step closer to the life he deserves.
Right now, we are trying to fundraise for the first surgery for his right leg, which is the most severe. Your support will help cover:
• Pre-surgical imaging and lab work
• Surgical procedures required to correct his condition
• Post-op rehab and medications
