Hi everyone, my name is Abigail and my brothers and me were evicted from our house and now we are homeless. We need help paying for a place to live for about two to three months until we find a permanent place to stay. A local charity is helping us stay at a motel, but only for two weeks, and the housing waiting list will take longer than that. Any money you give will be used to pay to stay at the motel and get groceries until we are off the waiting list.

I am a student at JCCC majoring in Fashion Designing. I have two brothers. One is in high school and the other is in middle school. I also work at an education nonprofit helping kids with their homework and reading and at Stitching Change as a sewing instructor teaching other people how to make clothes. I was born in Congo and then because of the conflict, we moved to Uganda until we found a Visa to come to Kansas City, Kansas in 2018. I am 19 and pay all the bills for my family. I am working very hard, but my parents haven't helped me. My parents were separated when we moved to the refugee camp in Uganda. My mom raised me and helped us to get here. Since we got here, things changed and she didn't take care of us. I have to take responsibility for me and my brothers. Now, I am getting a place to live for me and my brothers without my mom. With a safe place to live, I can take care of my brothers, do my schoolwork, work at my job, and pay bills for my family and me. Thank you for anything you can do to help.
