Help Me Give Abandoned Dogs a Lifetime of Love

I've spent years rescuing abandoned, neglected and unwanted dogs here in Ecuador. Some were puppies left on the roadside. Others were sick, injured, starving or simply discarded when they were no longer wanted.

Many arrived frightened, weak and unsure whether they could trust a human being. Today, they have a safe place to sleep, regular meals, friends to play with and, most importantly, someone who cares whether they live or die.

Welcome to VistaVerde Abandoned Dog Sanctuary.

VistaVerde isn't a traditional rescue centre where dogs arrive, recover and eventually move on to new homes. For almost all of our dogs, this is their forever home. Some have spent almost their entire lives here. A few may eventually find loving families, but most remain with us for the rest of their lives.

And that's a commitment I take very seriously.

But caring for so many dogs is an enormous responsibility, and quite honestly, I'm struggling to keep up with the costs.

Every week, there are mountains of dog food to buy. There are veterinary visits, medications, vaccinations, unexpected illnesses and injuries. There are grounds to maintain, repairs to make and countless little expenses that never seem to end.

The dogs don't understand budgets or bank balances. They don't know when donations are scarce or when the next food delivery needs to be paid for. They simply know that someone will fill their bowls and that they are safe.

I desperately want to keep it that way.

I'm asking for your help because I cannot do this entirely on my own anymore. Even a small donation can make a difference. Five or ten dollars might not seem like much, but when many people contribute a little, those small donations add up to a lot of full bellies and healthy, happy dogs.

- Food for our dogs.

- Veterinary care, medications and vaccinations.

- Treatment for sick and injured animals.

- Shelter maintenance and improvements.

- The everyday necessities that keep our sanctuary running.

If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends, family or other animal lovers would mean an enormous amount to us. You can also support the sanctuary by purchasing one of our colouring and activity books on Amazon. All proceeds from those books go towards helping our dogs.

I never set out to run a sanctuary this large. We've already helped about 100 dogs! I simply couldn't turn my back on dogs who needed help. One became two, two became ten, and somehow we ended up with a whole lot of wonderful dogs who now depend on us.

I wouldn't change their lives for anything. But I could certainly use a little help changing mine from a constant struggle to keep everything going!
