Like many wrongly convicted people in the United States, time is the most precious gift that many of us take for granted. A young man we hold near and dear to our hearts, whom the system wishes us to forget, where his fate with each day seems to slip away while his life is also at a standstill.

A young father from NOLA has already lost much of his twenties behind bars. Instead of building a life, he has watched days and years pass from inside a prison cell. The birthdays missed, the quiet moments that never returned, the chance to grow into the person he could have been — those years cannot be returned.

We are his family. We know his heart. We know the son and the brother and the person who used to laugh in our kitchen and help neighbors without hesitation. We also know he did not have the resources or representation he needed at a crucial moment in his life, and he was passed judgment on unfairly.

We are asking for help to secure independent, experienced legal counsel and investigators who can reexamine the case with fresh eyes. Funds will be used for attorney retainers, forensic testing, private investigation, and keeping the family connected during this long, difficult fight. We are not asking anyone to take sides. We are asking people to stand for fairness and give a young man a real chance at justice.
