Give A Sip - Ban Plastic Straws
Donation protected

It’s happening in New York.
Terrorizing our city and its waterways.
Creating a deadly environment for our precious sea life - local turtles, whales, fish, and birds.
Do you give a “sip”?
When it comes to plastic pollution, single-use plastic straws are one of the main offenders. At the rate we’re going, there will be more plastic in our oceans by weight than fish by 2050. This is a crisis and the time to act is now.
Join us in creating awareness for the upcoming bill to ban single-use plastic straws in New York City.

How can you help?
Leijas and the New York Aquarium have joined forces this summer and are asking for your help. Let’s increase awareness for the upcoming bill to successfully pass while paying homage to the city that we love & the sea life that we are desperate to save.
We are creating a citywide initiative that begins within some of the most central fixtures visited by New Yorkers on a daily basis - BODEGAS.
Through our grassroots efforts, we have already enlisted 250 bodegas throughout all 5 boroughs to go strawless and have created a guerilla strategy to spread the word across the streets of NYC. This strategy includes in-store signage for each bodega, petitions for customers to sign to support the straw ban, and other powerful out of home executions that will be seen by as many people as possible before the upcoming vote in October 2018. Beyond bodegas, we are working to include restaurants and bars throughout the boroughs, as well. We are educating NYC on the dangers of single-use plastic straws not only in our oceans, but for our ecosystems at large.
Every donation made helps spread the message to all New Yorkers: we have the power and the responsibility to protect our waters and our marine wildlife. Give a Sip and Save our Oceans.
