Give A Roof to Ming's Bed and Breakfast
Donation protected
Sunday, June 23rd, a vicious storm hit Gravelbourg. The whole town had hail and water damage but only Ming's Bed and Breakfast at the southeast corner of town was hit by a twister! The hail storm broke out every window on the north side of the building as well as the skylight. However, the real damage was caused by the twister. It tore the entire north asphalt flat roof (about 1/3 of the roof area) off the building. The loss was uninsured and the estimate to repair the roof is $36,000. Ming Gao and his wife Linge Mei with their daughter Ann moved to Canada in 2017 to give their daughter a better life. They perservered, took English lessons, and restarted the bed and breakfast. They refurbished the entire building with their own labour. Ming's extensive carpentry skills has converted each room to a unique, modern suite, many of them ensuites. As well, they are serving delicious meals. The community is so grateful for the restoration and preservation of this historic building and want to help them put their lives back together after this horrendous $36,000 uninsured loss. - Judy Reiman
