Hi, my name is Janae lacey and I am 17 and I am one of 5 children. My dad, Charles Lacey-Lambert, died on October 8th, at 51 years old. He died unexpectedly from sepsis. I'm still completely shocked he's gone and I miss him so much already. No one in my family has the money for burial or cremation, let alone a funeral and I can’t stand the thought of what will happen to him if I can't raise the money for it.
My dad spent 19 years in the Navy, he was a submariner and a chief petty officer. He served on the USS Nebraska, the USS Greeneville and the USS Ohio and was stationed in Georgia, Texas, California, Hawaii, Washington and Guam. He loved the Navy and he was especially proud to be a submariner. He sacrificed a lot for our country but he never complained. He gave his best whether at sea or a shore and he could always be counted on in times of need.
I was always a Daddy’s girl and the hardest parts of my life are the ones where he was out to sea. It’s been a rough few years for us and I haven’t seen him in person since 2019.
I wanted to surprise him by visiting him this coming summer after I turned 18 and graduated high school, but now all I can hope for is to see him one last time, or at least the comfort of knowing my dad isn’t going in an unmarked grave.
We are hoping to raise $2,500 to have a small funeral and to have him cremated so that even though all of us kids live all over the USA we can still feel close to him.
