Over-coming health issues and staying productive are important!

Dear friends, family, neighbors and kind strangers. We need your help!

Due to health issues and increasing age, I won’t be able to do hard physical work much longer. In order to provide for my family, I designed and developed a useful tool. We are only a few months and $20,000.00 away from production and then we can begin selling the tool.

Let me tell you a little bit about us and a bit about the tool .

About us: I’m a type-1 diabetic. I’m a hard worker but I lost job after job due to diabetic seizures that occurred on the job. This led to a brief homelessness. But I don’t give up. My wife Tina and I realized that we needed employment where we could work together so that when I go low blood sugar, she is there to help me. So we went door to door handing out fliers offering good quality lawn mowing and other landscaping services for a reasonable fee. Long story short... it worked! For the past 10 years we have worked hard building our landscaping business. We have supported ourselves and at the same time achieved better control of my diabetes. We saved enough to buy a fixer home, and we began saving for our future. But we know that we can’t do this kind of physical labor for too many more years and we have a 10-year old daughter and 5-year old son. And that’s where the tool comes in.

About the tool: I am passionate about solving this problem for all my friends, clients and thousands of other people frustrated with current concrete trowels. I came up with this idea after chatting with customer after customer lamenting that they just couldn’t get a smooth surface when trying to install a concrete pond in their yard. While I designed it with the homeowner in mind, it allows smooth, professional results in a fraction of the time. While it’s the only tool that works so well on concave surfaces and edges, it also works on flat surfaces so only one tool is needed. There is absolutely nothing else like it on the market. Please take a look at my website (www.raccoontools.com) and the three short videos in the visual blog to see how quick and easy it is to use. We’ve invested our entire savings of $50,000.00. We’ve proven and optimized the design with several prototypes. The next step is to make a 3-D model to create molds. The $20,000.00 covers everything through a limited production run so that we can begin selling the tools. We have established relationships with both a marketing and sourcing agency to ensure a smooth product roll out. After we are fully into production, I’ll begin work on my second tool which is a lower price all plastic version. It isn’t as durable as the metal version but is so inexpensive everyone can own one. And then on to some of my other ideas!! This money will not be wasted. We have many goals including paying this forward as soon as we are able.
