Give a Gift So They Get Time

Give the gift of time to a Sonoma County family with two young sons!

None of us know how much time we have in our bodies on this planet.  For some, the time is shorter than others, and our loved ones are left behind with the grief of loss too soon.  In the case of this family, you can help them now, before Tyrone Arnold is taken away from his wife and children.  Ty is known as a local bike enthusiast who has been riding both mountain and dirt bikes all over the County.  He has participated in rides and races for many years, including the Terrible Two, a local 200 mile ride three times!  His last Terrible Two ride was in 2015, before the unexpected diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma.

Multiple Myeloma is typically a type of cancer that the elderly are diagnosed with. Ty is one of the youngest patients his doctor has had to treat with this illness.  MM lives in the bone marrow, crowding out healthy blood cells, causing the bone to become brittle.  Ty was diagnosed with stage III, which is the final stage, in the spring of 2016.  As is common with this stage and type of cancer, he is now in end stage kidney failure and takes daily dialysis at home.  While he continues his monthly Chemo treatments, his prognosis is uncertain at best.  Ty, who has always taken pride in his independence and strength, has lost about a foot in height due to collapsing vertebral bones, and has broken other bones simply  by coughing or lifting a jug of water.  He has had multiple hospital stays and surgeries.

Before cancer, there was a budding romance between two lovey people who are fitness enthusiasts. Tyrone and Margaret met at the Santa Rosa climbing gym, Vertex.  Their love story began with six moths of flirting and fun.  Then they became climbing partners and enjoyed spending time together.  Finally, Ty worked up the courage to ask Margaret out!  They have been together more than 17 years, and still have so much love between them.  10 years ago, they welcomed their first son into their lives.  A couple  years later, their second son joined them and completed their family.  As parents, Ty and Margaret feel they have been blessed with fun, active boys who are happy every day they get to have with their dying father.

Margaret, who is a hard working career woman in leadership positions, has been out of work since being laid off in July 2018.  Though she continues to look for work, her unemployment benefits end in a few weeks.  Margaret hopes to spend any remaining time Ty has left, making memories with her family, and caring for her dying husband and their wonderful boys.  Recently, she was able to make homemade waffles for her older son's class breakfast in honor of her husband who started the tradition a few years ago.

Please help Ty and his family by making a donation today!  This loving family deserves to stay in their home together, make more memories over the holidays and as long as they have with Ty.  They would like to get a Christmas tree, which they do not have yet.  Even if you do not know this family, you can make a huge difference in their lives by being an angel donor today!  We wish for you and your family to always be together and healthy.  If terminal illness ever touches your lives, which we hope it never does, we wish that people far and wide will become your angels as so many have for Ty's family.  Please give what you can today, and make a difference in the lives of this beautiful and deserving family!
