Give 3k Food Drive

My name is Isabella Garcia-Ding and I am the founder of the Give 3k Charity. I am currently a senior at Roberto Clemente Community Academy in the diploma program. This annual event has graciously been hosted at Clemente since 2015. During my Freshman year of high school, I turned a health class assignment into a charity. The reason I started this charity was to help those in need at my high school, but as the years have gone by I have expanded my charity into helping my high school, grammar schools and the surrounding communities around it. My goal freshman year was to donate three thousand pounds of nonperishable items. It’s been three years and Give 3k has given two hundred and fifty families, turkeys and groceries for the Thanksgiving Holiday. My goal now is, for Give 3k to help three thousand families. Give 3k has been fortunate enough to help my community and others, in a small way for the last three years. Watching families walk away from the food drive event with a smile, a Turkey and Thanksgiving Non-Perishables, makes me feel that I have eased a burden, even if it’s just for a day. But I do not carry this charity alone. I have generous donors that help me achieve and pull off this event every year. Over the past three years, I have been honored to have the help of The Chicago Fire Department, The Chicago Police Department, Roberto Clemente Community Academy, and other organizations. The sponsor list grows larger every year. And for that, I am grateful. With your help, this years Give 3k, Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway can be the biggest event yet.
