Gitzy Wicklund Memorial Scholarship Fund

Gitzy Wicklund lived an extraordinary life, surrounding herself with young people and dedicating her energies and actions to improving kids' lives in the Solon Springs area.

From her childhood in Superior, surrounded by seven siblings, to her final days in December of 2022 - when beloved "graduates" of her long-running, well-known daycare regularly visited her in the hospital - Gitzy provided love, care, and mentorship to countless young people.

Simply put, Gitzy built a kid-filled universe, and she was the Queen of that universe. And several generations of young people were better because of it.

In celebration of her life and her commitment to kids, the Gitzy Wicklund Memorial Scholarship has been created to support higher education opportunities for Solon Springs High School graduates. Students with a strong sense of community, a commitment to volunteering, and a track record for putting others first will now have an additional scholarship opportunity in memory of Gitzy.

Gitzy's impact on Solon Springs is truly immeasurable, and her contributions to the young people of Solon Springs continue today through this scholarship.
