Githens Boy's and Girl's Lacrosse

At Sherwood Githens Middle School the student Mission is clear:

The mission of Sherwood Githens Middle School is to provide all students with a high quality education through service learning, leadership development, social development, and collaboration with parents and community members. Learning will take place in an environment where academic, social, and emotional needs are met in order for all students to reach their true potential for college and career readiness.

Our leader, Principal Tonya Williams, was Regional Principal of the Year in the state of North Carolina.

At Sherwood Githens Middle School the athlete's Vision/Mission is clear:

Githens Middle School Athletic Department is committed to excellence which we recognize begins in the classroom. Through the athletic platform, we strive to promote academic excellence, positive character traits and leadership. In collaboration with our faculty, parents, Athletic Booster Club (ABC) and Athletic Advisory Committee (AAC), the Githens Middle School Athletic Department looks forward to continue to mold our student-athletes into leaders of tomorrow. We emphasize our goal of academic excellence through structured academic enrichment sessions, weekly progress reports and building personal relationship beyond the classroom walls. The mission of the GMSAD ultimately is to expose our student-athletes to opportunities that will assist them to become productive citizens. We welcome all positive support to help take our program to new heights.

The teams at Githens have competed for and won many conference championships, but more importantly have given countless student athletes a sense of character, team, and PRIDE.

Sherwood Githens Middle School is considered a high poverty school with more than 50% of the student population receiving free lunch.

The Boys and Girls Lacrosse Programs lead by Coach Rocco Carbone and Coach Allison Johnson lack much needed funding.  Your donations will be divided between the programs to help provide equipment and supplies such as helmets, uniforms, goalie gear, repairs to game goals, backstop netting, first aid and athletic supplies and much more.  Some of our experienced players have their own equipment, but most do not.  We do not want to turn away student athletes from learning and growing a sport new to them because they can not afford to participate.  Any excess money raised will be used to fund many other Githens Athletic teams in need.

All donations are very graciously appreciated.  We will recognize our donors with various levels of giving.  Those donors will have their names proudly displayed within the school, this website, and on our PTA's facebook page.  Please consider making a donation.
