Restore a Classic Boat: Gitana

This is a GREAT opportunity for Classic Yacht and Sailing Enthusiasts!
Gitana is a classic wooden yawl designed by John G. Alden and built in 1936. The Alden design number is 630 and she was the only one ever built. As a matter of fact, sailors will know the Danforth anchor... well she was designed for Richard S. Danforth. Mr. Danforth used Gitana to test his now famous anchor.
In 1948 Gitana was in the TransPac to Hawaii. In 1955 she was shipped east and was re-rigged as a yawl for cruising in Maine. Gitana's hull is built of mahogany planks on white oak frames.
Now, 2015, Gitana will be traveling from Boothbay, Maine to her new home in New York City.
We have a blog of Gitana's adventures to follow along.

All of that said, Gitana needs some love.
She's old... 1936 is no spring chicken!
So we're asking for donations to help repair this classic piece of Yachting History.
You can help! Note the rewards below - you can get a chance to sail Gitana herself as well as get some sweet Gitana swag.
