Giselle Barrera

Hi my name is Erika Guzman, Marisol’s sister. On Wednesday October 18, 2023, Giselle started complaining of back pain on her way to school. It got so bad that Pedro had to turn around and go back home. Giselle walked in took some ibuprofen and waited for Pedro to get jasmine and Janette ready to go to school before he took her to the clinic. By this time, when Giselle tried to get up the pain had eased a bit but she could not get up and walk to the car. After arriving at urgent care, and having had x-rays and blood work, they determined she needed to be transported to Seattle Children’s ASAP. She was flown in a helicopter to children’s where she had more blood work, MRI and a lumbar puncture which determined she had suffered a spinal cord stroke which caused paralysis from the waist. She was admitted to the ICU because she cannot regulate her blood pressure well enough and has been having really bad headaches. Pedro and Marisol have been by her side the whole time. Once they have figured out her blood pressure is better she will be transferred to the medical floor then to rehab within Children’s and has a long road to recovery.

This fundraiser donation is to help with family expenses as well as medical bills, so that they have one less thing to worry about since Marisol will be staying with Giselle until she is able to come back home. And Pedro will be coming back to be with Janette and Jasmine. Please keep Giselle and her family in your prayers. Thank you.
