Hello, my name is Marina and this beautiful little girl is named Girly B. Two days ago, we were struck with the most devastating news that girly has Patent Ductus Arteriosus aka PDA. It’s a heart defect that causes excess blood flow to the lungs and eventually leads to heart failure. The only solution for her at this time is to have surgery on her heart immediately. Without this surgery, she has been given 6 months left to live. We are heartbroken beyond what words can explain. I cannot fully describe the amount of pain we felt in that moment. It is not a feeling I’d wish on anyone in this world. This little girl has completely transformed my family’s life with her sweet and gentle soul. She is the most loving, loyal, funny, and affectionate baby you’ll ever meet. Her love for life and the people around her is stronger than anything I've experienced from a dog before. She came from an unexpected litter from our other dog and experienced a difficult birth. She came out not breathing and finally took her first breath after about 40 seconds of stimulating her chest. She truly has been a fighter from the beginning. From the moment she was born, we knew she had such a special and endearing heart. She would always wag her tail in her sleep and be the first to welcome everyone who came to visit her with the sweetest face. I know some people may say she’s just a dog and they don’t feel as complex as us humans do, but that day in the vets office I could truly see that she understood our pain and is yearning for a fighting chance. All we want in this world is to give her that chance. I’ve been praying day and night for God to place his hands on our situation and give us the opportunity to save our sweet baby’s life. Her 1 year birthday is next month and we want so badly for her to live the life she so badly wants and deserves. Her life has essentially saved our lives in more ways than you can imagine. During a time of depression and loss, she brought times of light and hope to show us what life is really about. We are so desperate to keep our baby with us and are doing everything in our power to be able to afford this surgery for her. We were told that her surgery can cost upwards of 8k-10k and though we definitely do not have that type of money laying around, we are doing whatever we can to raise the funds to give her one last chance at life. A lot of our family has sadly passed, so it is only myself, my mom, my sisters, and our dogs. We don’t have much financial support to rely on during this unexpected situation but I have faith we can do it for girly. I truly appreciate everyone who has read this post.
