Hey guys!

As many of you know, we are Alika Keene and Lydia Burns, the current project managers for GirlSportWorks. We both grew up playing sports and that passion continued all the way through college. The lessons we learned by being part of our respective teams helped to shape us into the people we are today. GirlSportWorks is an organization that seeks to empower young girls through athletics, and with a mission like that it was hard to say no to this amazing opportunity. Long story short, we've been living in Cusco, Peru for the last 7 months or so, working with the most incredible girls.

Our goal is to raise $3,000 to ensure that the girls we work with will have the same fulfilling experience playing sports. 

Just in case you were wondering, GirlSportWorks IS a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit which means that any donations to this campaign will go directly towards the programming we offer, field/court renovations, new equipment, and the cultural and athletic field trips we lead. Here are a few examples of how your donations could help out our girls:

$75 will enable an entire class to go on a field trip to Cusco's new laser-tag facility

$100 will provide our girls with transportation to and from field trips for the year

$250 or more will aid us in replacing sports equipment (balls, pinnies, cones, sticks, bats, etc) 

$500 will provide appropriate renovations for the court spaces to make them safer (e.g. Filling holes in our courts, buying a lock to lock out drunk men during class, renovating the broken toilet that leaks into the court, etc.)

$750 will allow all of our girls to go on 2 field trips throughout the year (not including the historical site Machu Picchu)

$1000 will allow 12 girls to visit Machu Picchu, an important aspect of their culture, for the first time.
