Girls Rock! C-U growing & we need your help in making our dream of having a brick and mortar space a reality!

For the last 8 years, Girls Rock! C-U has served the Champaign-Urbana area by providing opportunities for girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth to nurture skills in music and art, build a sense of community by making new friends, and feel a sense of empowerment through the support they receive from their female presenting teachers and staff during our annual summer camp. The driving force behind this organization is the belief that the power of music is a catalyst for profound things for our young people and in supporting them, we can create a community where every voice has a space.

The Girls Rock! C-U organization has held 4 camps, 2 Girls Rock festivals, and several workshops with the aim of fulfilling our mission of empowering female presenting youth through music. In order to stay in line with our mission and keep the organization growing, we are seeking a brick and mortar space to help us maintain our current goals and be able to increase opportunities for the young folks in our area.

Recently, the organization was presented with an opportunity to come into a space in the Champaign area. This space would act as headquarters for the organization and help us provide new opportunities for smaller workshops, music/band lessons, and act as an open space for female presenting women and youth to be able to express themselves artistically on a more regular basis. We have so many ideas on how to provide opportunities for our current population of kids and new ideas on how to reach out to a broader demographic.

In order to make these dreams a reality, however, we need your help: we need to raise $10,000-$15,000 to help us cover the new costs that occupying a brick and mortar space presents, while also being able to maintain the current costs of running our annual camp.
