Girl's Provincial Rugby Competition
Donation protected
Exciting news for girls' rugby in Salmon Arm! Salmon Arm Secondary girl's team has secured a spot at the provincial championships! They have worked really hard and greatly improved their game this season. They have achieved top rankings in the Thompson Okanagan region. Coach John Laboyne came out of retirement and has helped to coach our girls to a new level of achievement.
The team will be heading to Abbotsford to compete May 28-31. Their dedication, and commitment has paid off in their accomplishments. They are helping to grow the sport of rugby in the Shuswap region.
Many players travel long distances to participate in regular twice weekly practices from areas such as Magna Bay, Sorrento, Scotch Creek and Blind Bay. The players have to travel to all around the Thompson Okanagan to play weekly games. We are very grateful to the parent volunteer drivers, we recognize their support requires significant time and money.
To support the 11 girls headed to provincials we are launching a GoFundMe page. The funds will help to cover accommodations for the team ($2200), food costs ($500) , travel expenses ($400), fruit/Gatorade/water (game time) $200, team entry fees ($850), provincial t-shirts ($275). If any funds are by chance not used they will be reinvested into girl's rugby in Salmon Arm.
