Girls Math Team Canada

Help us send a team of Canadian girls to EGMO: the European Girls' Math Olympiad.


EGMO is a by invitation only international math competition for high school girls which started in 2012. Canada was invited to send a team in 2018, and a generous donation from the University of Waterloo  made it possible for Math Team Canada to participate in EGMO. The team members came home with 3 medals, a new level of confidence in their mathematical abilities and a new glimpse of what they can achieve.  They now envision themselves as future leaders.

Having a Math Team consisting of girls sets an example for all girls, and motivates them to think of math as something they can do well in.

We need help sending a team in 2019! Every bit of support helps so Math Team Canada can participate in the 2019 competitions.

Your donation will go to help cover the travel  and registration costs of the team. The training of the girls is done by eager mathematicians who volunteer their time.

Sara Faridi and Dorette Pronk are math professors at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.
Sara is the Atlantic Vice President of the nonprofit organization Canadian Mathematical Society  (CMS) and  has been passionately helping with fundraising to support Canada's participation in EGMO.

Dorette is the chair of the Math Competitions Committee  of the CMS, and the team leader for EGMO. She tirelessy spends hours every week running math clubs for students grades 2  to 12.

Sarah Sun is the deputy leader of Math Team Canada. She and Dorette are looking forward to leading a new team to EGMO in 2019!
