Girls Growing Education in Ethiopia

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are Grace, Ginevra, and Ela - three passionate high school students who strongly believe in the power of education to empower young minds. This summer, we embarked on a journey to Ethiopia to run a two-week summer camp in Addis Ababa from July 24th through August 4th, 2023.

Our goal was to provide both educational and enjoyable activities for students. We have been collaborating with Biruh Admas (www.biruhadmas.com), an organization that is committed to providing world-class education to students in Ethiopia. They have devices that make the world-renowned Khan Academy available without requiring an internet connection. Biruh Admas also assisted us with the logistics related to setting up and running the camp.

We strongly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of their background. Unfortunately, in developing countries like Ethiopia, the desire for education, or the "starvation of the mind," is often overlooked. We want to change this, one child at a time.

Rather than attending other summer camps ourselves, we have decided to use our time and resources to assist those who have never had the opportunity to experience a summer camp. We acknowledge the privilege we have in accessing excellent education, and we want to share that privilege with our peers.

To make this summer camp a success, we have raised close to $5,000. The funds covered essentials such as food, supplies, staffing, and purchasing additional computers for the children. With your support, you have sparked curiosity and created lasting memories.

We are still fundraising to continue the support of the children who attended the camp so that they can help us keep the program growing to other schools.
