Hi, My name is Charity. I have a passion to fundraise and sponsor teenage girls from less privileged backgrounds in Zimbabwe with sanitary packs (pads, pants, tissues, and soap) these packs will help these girls manage their menstrual cycle with dignity and girl pride.

Research shows that there is a steady number of absenteeism among girls of school going age due to lack of sanitary wear. The stigma associated with menstruation especially in Africa leads to embarrassment, fear, depression, anxiety, shame, low self esteem and lack of confidence. Some communities treat menstruation like a plague and most schools cannot afford to supply sanitary products. In some poor countries incidents of suicide among the girls is becoming a regular occurrence.

The Girlhood project is there to educate and support the girls to embrace their menstrual cycle as part of growing up into womanhood. The message to these girls is that ' you are special and it's ok to be a girl, enjoy your girlhood, period is part of it, don't let it hold you back'.

Last year, with friends and well wishers together we manage to raise about £400 that enabled us to buy 120 sanitary packs (pads , pants, soap, and tissue) for girls in one of the rural Zimbabwe schools. I intend to sponsor girls in an identified orphanage in Zimbabwe with a year's worth of sanitary packs. Please help achieve this goal.

Together we can make a difference in these girls lives, no amount is too little to change someone future by being able to attend school confidently because they have the resources they need every month.
