My name is Sandra Aguilar, the writer and director of Girlhood. I am currently in my last semester at California State University, Long Beach, specializing in screenwriting and production management. This Novemeber, I was given the opportunity to be able to make my idea for my senior thesis film come to life.

Girlhood follows our main character, Maya, as she faces the trials and tribulations of being a girl. With the film's colorful appeal and unexpected tragedies, the audience gets to experience a glimpse of what it truly means to be a girl and the world's view on girlhood.

This film is near and dear to my heart. The inspiration behind it is my own personal experiences and the experiences of those around me. This film is for all the girls' whos stories go unheard, but deserved to be shared.

I am so excited to share the story of Maya. Shoutout to the crew for the endless support and help bringing this story to life.

OUR GOAL:

With that being said, we need your help and support to make this short film possible. Our goal is to raise $3,600 which will help to cover food for our cast and crew, production design, props, post-production costs, and festival submissions. Filming takes place from Tuesday, November 28th and Thursday, November 30th. We are currently in the pre-production phase of our film and would greatly appreciate any support for this film through donations or simply by sharing this page and helping to spread the word to social media, friends, and family.
