Filmtour VIVAS Documental Europa - NOV 2023

The purpose of this campaign is to raise 5000 EUR so that the two protagonists of the film VIVAS can travel to Europe and be part of a series of presentations, screenings of the film and talks with international experts on gender violence and femicides in Mexico, where the numbers have increased and 13 women are murdered daily for gender-related reasons. Karen Martinely Reyes Carranza is the mother of Renata, a 13-year-old girl who was the victim of a femicide in 2020 at the hands of her mother's ex-partner. Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel is the mother of Fátima, a 12-year-old girl who was the victim of a brutal femicide in 2015 at the hands of three of the neighbors

El motivo de esta campaña es alcanzar el monto de 5000 EUR para que las dos protagonistas de VIVAS puedan viajar a Europa y ser parte de una serie de presentaciones, proyecciones del film y charlas con expertas internaciones y referentes a la violencia de género y los feminicidios en México, en donde actualmente las cifras se han incrementado y 13 mujeres son asesinadas diariamente por razones de género. Karen Martinely Reyes Carranza es la mamá de Renata, una niña que con tal solo 13 años fue víctima de un brutal feminicidio en 2020 a manos de la ex pareja de su madre. Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel es la mamá de Fátima, una niña de 12 años, víctima de un brutal feminicidio en 2015 a manos de tres de sus vecinos.

Hello, my name is Angélica Cruz Aguilar, creator of HISPANOHABLANTES MEDIA and producer-director of the film VIVAS (2022), a documentary about the feminist wave in Latin America and with focus on the feminicides in Mexico. I am a Mexican journalist based in Stuttgart/Berlin. My film VIVAS was made in co-production with the University of Tübingen, the documentary also shows testimonies of mothers of victims of feminicides in Mexico.

After Renata's femicide, Karen had to become an activist and seek support to gain access to justice in her daughter's case. She finds herself in a constantly vulnerable state after her loss and unable to effectively incorporate herself back into her old rhythm of life. She is currently constantly attending psychological therapies to cope with her losses and depression.

Después del feminicidio de Renata, Karen tuvo que volverse activista y buscar apoyo para lograr tener acceso a la justicia en el caso de su hija. Se encuentra en un estado constantemente vulnerable tras su pérdida y al no poder incorporarse efectivamente a su antiguo ritmo de vida. Actualmente está constantemente asistiendo a terapias psicológicas para enfrentar su pérdidas y estados de depresión.

In Lorena's case, she is still fighting because there are still many irregularities that were triggered after Fatima's femicide. She is a great fighter and a mother who lives with the pain of the loss of her daughter Fatima and her son Daniel!

En el caso de Lorena, ella sigue en pie de lucha porque aún continuan muchas irregularidades que se detonaron tras el feminicidio de Fátima. ¡Es una gran luchadora y una madre que vive con el dolor de la pérdida de su hija Fátima y su hijo Daniel!

November is a special month for the fight against violence against women. Specifically, November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and on that day we will have the most important event of our tour in Stuttgart, Germany. With this budget we mainly want to buy the flights for the protagonists (Mexico City-Frankfurt), to have enough per diem for our guests, Karen Martinely Reyes Carranza and Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel, to cover travel expenses between the different cities in Germany and Europe where we plan our events and to have a small budget to support the collaborators and organizers of the tour.

Noviembre es un mes especial para la lucha de la violencia en contra de las mujeres. Específicamente el 25 de noviembre es el Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer y ese día tendremos el evento más importante de nuestra gira en Stuttgart, Alemania. Con este presupuesto queremos comprar principalmente los vuelos de las protagonistas (Ciudad de México-Stuttgart), lograr tener viáticos suficientes para nuestra invitada, Karen Martinely Reyes Carranza y Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel, solventar gastos de viajes entre las diferentes ciudades de Alemania y Europa en donde planeamos nuestros eventos y tener un pequeño Budget de apoyo para los colaboradores y organizadores de la gira.

After some donations collected at VIVAS screenings at film festivals in Germany, we have managed to raise a small amount to support Lorena with a megaphone and Karen with her passport. And the rest she preferred to keep for her trip to Europe. We were able to help Karen with her passport, now the next step is to buy the flights and continue organizing the tour!

Tras algunas donaciones recaudadas en las proyecciones de VIVAS en festivales de cine en Alemania, hemos logrado recaudar una pequeña cantidad que nos ha servido para apoyar a Lorena con un megáfono. Y el resto ella prefirió que se quede guardado para utilizarlo en su viaje a Europa. A Karen pudimos ayudarla con el trámite de su pasaporte. ¡Ahora el siguiente paso es comprar los vuelos y seguir organizando la gira!

Lorena will initially not be able to be present at our most important event (25 November 2023), as she herself is planning a series of presentations and activist movements on 25N in Mexico City. However, we hope to logistically coordinate other dates and events so that before the beginning of the month she can also be part of a VIVAS tour in Germany.

Lorena no podrá inicialmente estar presente en nuestro evento más importante (25 de noviembre 2023), ya que ella misma está planeando una serie de presentaciones y movimientos activistas el 25N en Ciudad de México. Sin embargo, esperamos coordinar logísticamente otras fechas y eventos para que previamente a principios de mes ella también pueda ser parte de una gira de VIVAS en Alemania.

Synopsis VIVAS: In a country where 11 women are murdered every day, a new feminist wave is emerging. There is no end to violence against women in Mexico and it is described here through the stories of Lorena and Karen, two mothers fighting for access to truth and justice following the murders of their daughters Fatima and Renata. In February 2015, twelve-year-old Fatima was intercepted on her way home from school by three neighbors who subsequently sexually abused the young girl and murdered her. Renata was thirteen years old in November 2020 and was murdered by her mother's ex-partner in her own home. After the murders of their daughters, Lorena and Karen met with feminist collectives and other mothers who have suffered the same pain as them. Since then, these women have maintained a fierce and debilitating struggle in which they always count on each other's support. Behind the victims there is a life story that persists and that is the reason for the emergence of the feminist movement in different parts of the country: women fighting for their right to exist, to survive and to live a life free of violence. VIVAS follows this struggle closely and gives the women of the country a voice that expresses the urgency of the issue.

Sinopsis VIVAS: En un país donde 11 mujeres son asesinadas cada día, está surgiendo una nueva ola feminista. La violencia contra las mujeres en México no tiene fin y se describe aquí a través de las historias de Lorena y Karen, dos madres que luchan por acceder a la verdad y la justicia tras los asesinatos de sus hijas Fátima y Renata. En febrero de 2015, Fátima, de doce años, fue interceptada cuando volvía del colegio por tres vecinos que posteriormente abusaron sexualmente de la joven y la asesinaron. Renata tenía trece años en noviembre de 2020 y fue asesinada por la expareja de su madre en su propia casa. Tras los asesinatos de sus hijas, Lorena y Karen se reunieron con colectivos feministas y con otras madres que han sufrido el mismo dolor que ellas. Desde entonces, estas mujeres mantienen una lucha encarnizada y debilitante en la que siempre cuentan con el apoyo de las demás. Detrás de las víctimas hay una historia de vida que persiste y que es la razón del surgimiento del movimiento feminista en diferentes partes del país: mujeres que luchan por su derecho a existir, a sobrevivir y a vivir una vida sin violencia. VIVAS sigue de cerca esta lucha y da a las mujeres del país una voz que expresa la urgencia del tema.
