I'm running in the Blackmore's Half Marathon on Sunday 15th September and I'm raising money for the White Jacket Effect in honour of my good friend Richard Moyser who passed away earlier this year. For me, exercise is a way of disconnecting from the stresses that can play a part in our industry and I encourage all chefs and hospitality professionals to do the same.
Negative mental health in the Hospitality Industry has caused social isolation, alcohol and drug abuse, relationship breakdown, stress, anxiety, depression and suicide.
The impact is a large number of us are distracted from our work and families, unhappy, lonely, and have lost the passion that drew us to this wonderful industry in the first place.
The White Jacket Effect is an organisation that is going WORLD wide and is dedicated to lifting the hospitality industry to powerful new heights. They are building tools, resources and materials to give to the industry to cause insight and new knowledge about how to deal with the issues powerfully.
