Giovanni Guzzardo - Education and Future

On Friday, June 4, John Guzzardo was in Long Beach, California with his son, Giovanni, spending time with old friends. They had a wonderful day surfing, hiking, and enjoying their time together. John and his friend, Aaron Morgan, were both killed instantly that night in a horrific head-on collision. The investigation is still ongoing, but DUI is suspected for the car that swerved into their lane and hit them.
By nothing less than a miracle, Giovanni survived the accident. As he fought for his life at Miller Women and Children's Hospital in Long Beach, family and friends came together to support both him and his mom through those first scary days. Giovanni has made amazing progress, but it will be a long road to recovery for him.
John was loved by so many people, and the sound of his laugh will be remembered by us all. He was a skilled attorney and a man of so many talents, who was always there for those in need.
So many of you have asked how you can help that we have created this page for his wife and son. Like his dad, Gee is a smart kid with a very bright future, so the family is asking for help to support his education when that time comes. A college account has been set up, and the funds raised will go to his college and continued education.
Thanks to many caring people who have found it in their heart to help, we’ve reached our first goal in just a few days. Since we reached our first goal quickly, and after much thought and research, we have decided to increase our fundraising goal. While we are so incredibly grateful for the money raised, at this time tuition for a year at the University of Illinois is $15,000, and $60,000 for Northwestern (John’s Alma Mater!). To come closer to covering the cost of Giovanni‘s education for four years (or more) we have decided to raise our goal to $75,000.
