Giovani Ayong's Memorial

On July 25th - just over a week after Gio's forty-third birthday - we lost a son, husband, father, brother and friend.

After a heart attack on the morning of his birthday (the 17th) and a week in the hospital, Gio gained his wings and went home.

As unexpected as it was, there was no shortage of happiness in his life. From the outpour of people in hospital waiting rooms to the number of Facebook posts, it is so evident that he was surrounded by so many people that love him.

He enjoyed every bit of life - cared so deeply for his family and friends, laughed and joked every chance he could get, never turned down an opportunity to embarrass his kids. Or play golf. (Ever).

There was no room for negative energy in his life. Instead he played golf and softball and bowled, coached basketball teams and provided himself as a mentor-turned-big brother to the communities he served.

I cannot write enough to describe even a fraction of what Gio meant to everyone. He is not here physically - I suppose he's on the greenest golf course up there - but his spirit lives on in all of us.

Funds from this campaign are going to his funeral expenses. (Information for time/day soon to follow).

From the bottom of our hearts - though quite literally not as big as Gio's could be - thank you.
