No one ever wants to get a phone call that someone has passed away let alone that one of your good friends children has passed away.  But that was the phone call I received on Wednesday morning. Giovanni (Gio) Mariscal had passed away, 7 year old son of Kristin (Leaf) and Ricardo Mariscal.  

Gio was a very special boy, he had a rare mutation of a gene ZC4H2. He was one of only 4 people in the world known to be affected by this mutation.  He could not hold his head up, roll, crawl, walk, or talk but he had a smile that melted your heart.  And for those of us that were lucky enough to have met Gio you know that he always made you smile.  As many of you know they recently were on a family vacation at Walt Disney World on a Make A Wish trip for Gio, I know all of you LOVED seeing all the photos of that smile.  

Kristin & Ricardo over the years have experienced a lot of financial hardships due to Gio's medical bills and constant care.  As we all know funerals are expensive but I believe that every person needs a funeral that shows who they truly were and how much they have impacted the people in their lives.  Let's help Kristin & Ricardo and their family give Gio funeral he deserves.
